The word ‘Zongororo’ means millipede in the local dialect, Shona.  Millipede, in turn, means ‘millions of legs’ which, explains owner Elsa, “teaches us to work together to protect God’s creation and to move steadily towards our goals. It also refers to the train running through the farm, affectionately known as the ‘steel Zongororo’”.

The Zongororo story started in 2009 in response to a call from God to establish a Christian guest farm and ministry. Fifteen years later, Zongororo Village of Ministry is a place of restoration, connection, and exploration in and of Christ.  It is also testament to more than a decade of inspiration, perspiration, determination, guidance, and assistance from above.

The Farm strives to be a place of Spiritual Rest, Revival & Restoration, a space where changes can take place, where broken hearts can be healed, captives set free and disciples made.

Zongororo Guest Farm - Main Lodge is a pet friendly 283-hectare guest farm a few kilometers outside Waterval Boven in South Africa’s Mpumalanga province. The name Zongororomeans millipede in Shona, the language of the Shona people in Nova Sofala, Mozambique. The connection between the millipede and our name is the train that runs through our farm, which we refer to as the steel Zongororo.Photograph: John Hogg

Awesomeness. Will go back again coming December. ☺ Elsa, Pieter, James and all the staff know what it means to host people. God Bless you guys. The welcoming home-made bread is to die for. thanks again** Perfect location between mountains and nature galore. I have to mention the dogs, who accompanied us on all hiking trails. The kids absolutely loved them, I kinda miss them also now. The 4 nights we stayed there felt like home even without TV. Wi-fi is available on the premises. All round wonderful time spent there. If you want nature, peace and quiet. That's the place to go ☹ The weather wasn't the best when we were there. We had cloud cover mostly. Either than that, I could not find any fault. I tried....

Splendid weekend stay. ☺ We were there for the Elands Marathon, and it was perfectly located for it. Staff went over and beyond to help us for the weekend and were amazing. Great setting and rustic (as nature retreats should be). ☹ The sound of a train does carry a bit through the valley, but there is seldom a train, and you get used to it.

Exceptional ☺ I should have stayed another night. The accommodation is just great if you want to relax, but with all the comforts and lots of nature around it. The hosts are very welcoming and also have time for interesting and informative chats.
